The Role
As a Research Security Manager, you are tasked with overseeing the security aspects of research and development projects, especially those involving sensitive information, intellectual property, and cutting-edge technology. This role is essential in settings where research activities face potential risks from espionage, cyber threats, and other security vulnerabilities. You are responsible for ensuring that research initiatives are conducted within a secure framework, safeguarding both the physical and intellectual assets at stake.
Key responsibilities:
- Create and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures tailored to the research environment, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential security threats to research projects and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Ensure all research activities comply with relevant security laws, regulations, and standards. This includes overseeing compliance with export control laws, data protection regulations, and any other legal requirements related to the research.
- Lead the response to security incidents, including investigation and remediation efforts, and develop plans to prevent future incidents.
- Work closely with research teams, IT departments, and external partners to promote security awareness. Provide training and resources to help researchers understand and comply with security protocols.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security technologies such as encryption, access control systems, and surveillance tools to protect research data and facilities.
- Evaluate the security practices of vendors, collaborators, and other external partners involved in research projects to ensure they meet the organization's security standards.
- Maintain detailed records of security policies, incidents, and compliance efforts. Prepare security reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.
About You
To be successful as a Research Security Manager at Healthyfi, you should offer:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information security, computer science, or a related field, with certifications in security being advantageous.
- Extensive experience in research security or a related field, with a deep understanding of the unique security challenges in a research environment.
- A proactive approach to security, with a track record of implementing effective security policies and measures to protect sensitive research data and intellectual property.
